HARROD RUNS HIS MOUTH

by Scott Virtes

We were exploring catacombs, trying to be quiet. But Harrod would not shut up. "Don't care much for humans. They're so ordinary. And hobbits are naive and always hungry. We elves are graceful and long-lived, the higher the better. And we always sing on key."
     We shushed him again, unsuccessfully.
"Dwarves are drunks. Fairies? Too carefree. And the evil races are all so . . . evil."
Jargo smacked Harrod with the flat of his axe.
Harrod staggered and collapsed. The whole party stopped and glared at Jargo.
Jargo shrugged. "What? The kid's got a bad case of high elf esteem."   END
